Shandong’s 2030 Resource Adequacy Dataset

This dataset supports hourly operational simulations of the Shandong power system for a 2030 summer scenario, using the province’s 16 prefecture-level cities as network nodes. It is designed to evaluate the impacts of different low-carbon generation pathways—including alternative deployment levels of coal-fired power, wind, solar PV, and energy storage—as well as the system’s resilience under two stress scenarios: HVDC transmission outages and extreme weather events.

The dataset includes the following model inputs:

  • Power plant operating costs and technical characteristics, including startup and shutdown costs for coal-fired generating units.
  • Fossil fuel prices.
  • Renewable generation profiles (wind and solar PV).
  • The intra-provincial transmission network connecting the 16 prefecture-level cities.
  • Interprovincial electricity transfers.
  • Hourly electricity demand profiles for each prefecture-level city.
  • Installed capacities of coal-fired power, wind, solar PV, and energy storage under both the baseline and low-carbon development pathways.

Simulation outputs include:

  • Power system dispatch results.
  • Renewable energy curtailment.
  • Interprovincial electricity flows.
  • Utilization of interprovincial transmission corridors.
  • Unserved energy (NSE).
  • Other operational performance indicators.
